FHERITALE Stakeholder Meeting

On May 26th, Sciensano hosted the FHERITALE Stakeholder Meeting in Brussels, bringing together European Research Infrastructures to strengthen cross-sector synergies in addressing the impact of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs). Thanks to live polling and active audience participation, the session quickly evolved into a lively and insightful exchange, covering scientific, technological, regulatory, and infrastructural perspectives. Participants worked together to identify the key challenges shaping the future of MNPs research. The interactive format fostered open dialogue among researchers, infrastructure managers, industry representatives, and policymakers, leading to the development of concrete ideas for future collaboration and European policy initiatives. The programme also included a guided visit to the Sciensano laboratories, where participants had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into ongoing analytical activities and explore research facilities dedicated to environmental and health-related studies on emerging contaminants. The event provided a solid foundation for strengthening future collaboration and advancing coordinated research and policy development in the field of micro- and nanoplastics.
